From the cave at Lakeside to the gas station at Delle on I70 is about 40 miles.
I have no idea what my dirt mileage is like in the pickup, so I'm bringing LOTS of gas.
Well, I guess I'll go pick up another can and hope 15 extra gallons will be plenty. That should put me at over a 500 mile range.

I'm planning on having two jerry cans of fuel with me as well. I do need to find a decent spout for them though. Any suggestions other than making my own desert racing style nozzle? All the reviews for the flexible metal ones on Amazon suck.BoostedRNR wrote:Kevin wrote:

I just bought a Super Siphon. I don't have spouts for my jerries, so I hope it works.

I think I'm going to go hit up the hardware store and see if I can't make my own for cheaper.

Mission accomplished. I just scored all the parts to build the above pour spot for about $6. Suck it overpriced Amazon guy.

Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
This storm keeps coming earlier and earlier. Â When I first started watching the weather, it was snow on Monday. Â Then it was snow on Sunday. Â Then it warmed up and turned into rain on Sunday. Â Now it's 80% chance of rain on Saturday and it's gone from clear Friday night to 40% chance of rain then too.
I wasn't kidding when I said I'm not going out there if it's muddy. Â High of 40 and 80% chance of rain = mud. Â I'm thinking about bailing too. Anybody down for a trip into the Swell instead?

If there's mud I won't be there. I'd consider a Swell trip, never been out there.

Brady, will your 1st gen handle a trip with lots of highway miles?
Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
It'll handle being towed lots of highway miles. I've yet to register it and don't think it'll pass inspection as is.

Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
That would make a Swell trip tricky, not many short loop-style routes that my truck can handle. What if you drive your truck and I promise not to tell your wife? We can keep it to 2wd dirt roads.
Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
Are you planning on driving your F-150 or wifemobile? What's out at the Swell? I know there's some awesome scenery. Is there some difficult trails? Roads our big trucks can handle? Good camping spots. I'm unfamiliar with the area.

Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
I'm having my F150 and trailer, so I wouldn't want to aim for anything technical. The Swell is full of stuff to see, miles of mild dirt roads, tons of awesome camping.
Forecast for Lucin says rain Friday night is back to 20%, Saturday is 80% with a high of 47.

The omens are getting worse. Nicole's been sick for a couple days now and I just started sneezing.
Re: Newfoundland Mountains November 21st and 22nd
Where's the "everyone but me and Brady sucks" button? All kidding aside, this is about the only trip in going to be able to make for the next few months with the new baby coming. I can't make the swell since I have family stuff Saturday night. I can try to get the keys to the cabin up farmington canyon that we would have to ourselves. Or we can find somewhere closer than the swell to camp.

Should we just camp out at 5 Mile? That way Kevin can sneeze at his house all night and come wheel with us on Saturday.

Not overly familiar with what's around to explore. If you've got a good spot let's look into it.

I don't know if the Mirror Lake highway is open, but if it is I'd be down.
Where's Ibex?
