Re: Official MTB Thread
I don't want to ride in the valley though, too much smoke. I tried to put in twenty miles yesterday and had to turn for home at five because my lungs hurt so bad.

Is there anywhere not effected by smoke?

That's why I was thinking Snowbird or outside Kamas. It'd be less smoke, anyway.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow though, maybe that'll clear the air.
Re: Official MTB Thread
So who's in? Where? The air's cleaner so if nobody has a better idea I'm just gonna go do laps on Vertigo/Levitate.

I don't think we have a hard time. Later is fine, I don't like setting up in the dark but we can always eat in town. We could even leave earlyearly Saturday morning and just camp the one night if you guys would rather.
Re: Official MTB Thread
I was thinking leave at around noon to get a short ride in on Fri.

That works too.
Brady, we'll surely be somewhere along the road on top of the mesa (this one 37.133665, -113.139240). It's the only road up there, we'll be easy to find.

Re: Official MTB Thread
Possible campsite number one 37.151801, -113.171966
number two 37.156182, -113.165040
number three 37.141935, -113.146245
If none of those work out then we'll just try and be somewhere findable.

Re: Official MTB Thread
That's exactly the one I bought, it's been great so far. I think I really like the oval and I haven't had a single chain drop since I put it on.
Teeth is up to you. I picked 30 because that put me squarely between the 26 tooth granny and 34 tooth middle on my 3x setup. If you're confident in your legs you could use a 32 or 34 and get a little more top end - I spin out on long descents with the 30.

I need to get some form of leg protection. It looks like I've been whipped with barbed wire.

Re: Official MTB Thread
That's a really good video, I hadn't seen that.
I looked at putting a range extender on my x9 cassette, it's doable with some hacking and fiddling but at the end it was going to cost me over $100. I priced out the conversion to x11, and with an XT 11-46 cassette, SLX shifter, XT derailleur, and an 11 speed chain it's about $175 depending on prices when I pull the trigger. If I go with lower spec or off brand components I can bring that down near $100. So I'm suffering with limited gear range until I get a little extra paycheck to upgrade it the right way.
I still like the 1x9 w/30t oval better than the 3x9 I had before.
