Also on a positive note, I passed my instructor test on Friday I didn't get to do the flight portion because of the weather but hopefully I get to take care of it this Thursday. So hopefully when the weather gets better i'll have a lot more free time and a much more flexible schedule.
Congrats!

Re: Official MTB Thread
So there's a Smith's grocery about three blocks from my house. I go in the other morning to get some things, and right inside the front door standing by the carts is these two trashy gutter punks, with two bikes. One of them is Ians. So I took it back. I was ready to sit on both of them, but they could have been underage and I didn't want get in trouble for beating on a minor so I settled for calling UPD, but they had split by the time officers got there. I tried to follow one of them but he ditched me.
So I found the fuckers, and I know they live right in this neighborhood and I KNOW that they're not smart enough to be professional bike thieves, so I'm pretty sure that my bikes are close. Very close. Unfortunately, these punks probably ran home, got the bikes, and dumped them in the canal.

Pulled the trigger on that Growler today. 29+ (but the 26x4.5 wheelset will fit), NX Eagle twelve speed, Bluto suspension fork, 27 pounds. Should be here in a couple weeks, I'm excited to see how it rides.

Nice!
Insurance pay out? or are you on the hook for the whole thing?
I take it the fat tires were not on the fat bike when it was stolen?

They paid out. Less than I wanted but more than I expected, so...
Besides the bike I need to buy cameras and build a shred shed to keep the bikes more secure. The 29s were on the El Oso when they got it, so I do still have the 26 fat wheelset from that bike.

Re: Official MTB Thread
Good to hear! Sounds like a shed building/camera install party is needed.

I think we need to plan to plan a desert ride in April sometime. I'm starting to get the itch
I'd really like to go do some trails in Moab again that was a lot of fun.

Re: Official MTB Thread
I've been itching for months. Took a little ride with Eric and Ashton in ... November? and that was enough to convince me I wasn't over the sinus infection yet, and then the bikes got stolen. I'm DYING for a ride. Hoping the new one shows up this week or the next, and I'm going be on dirt (or snow, whatever) just as soon as physically possible after.
Moab in April would be fun. I've got the weekends of the 6-7th and the 20-21st off.

I passed my test, I officially can teach. Waiting to see when I start and what my workload is going to be. If feasible my schedule should get flexible around April 1

Awesome! Are you going to do that and drive the cop car, or are your days as an officer numbered?
Re: Official MTB Thread
Days are numbered, just waiting to see how busy they'll keep me at first before I stop my steady paycheck.

I do require post-ride nachos at least once. We keep talking about post-ride nachos, but usually settle for something other than post-ride nachos.

Mmm, nachos. Let's have nachos night instead of taco night next time we camp.

Re: Official MTB Thread
They say it's getting here today, but the last time they scanned it was on the other side of Wyoming last night and it hasn't moved since then, so I'm thinking probably not.
In other news, I'm bringing Nicole's old Hard Rock back from the dead. New wheelset from Bikesdirect, upgraded shifters and brake levers, and I ordered disc brakes to replace the rim brakes it came with. It'll be a better bike for sure, I'm hoping to get her on some dirt this summer. If anyone wants to do some family riding with the wifes, lemme know.

I've actually been wanting to go for a ride in the snow on the plus bike. Might have to do a recon and see if some people with fat bikes have packed anything out since the new storm

Are we 1/2-way serious about Moab in April?
