As long as the mortgage gets paid I can park it anywhere on the property!

That's quite the antenna you got coming off that trailer...you could probably power a house with that thing

Making sure I've got long enough wires can be a challenge.

Re: My 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport
Found out yesterday that my truck is part of the frame rust settlement. I've got a frame inspection coming up in a couple of weeks. I don't think I'll need a new frame, might be able to get the rust prevention coating done at Toyota's cost.

Is it rusty at all under there?

Re: My 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport
There's more surface rust than I'd like, but nothing looks to be on the verge of falling apart. Figure it's better to play it safe and have the frame inspected. Plenty of horror stories to be found with Tacomas living on the east coast.

Passed the frame inspection today. I'll remove what surface rust I can and paint.

Not sure 5 would be enough, unless I put 7 maxtrax up there too.

I'm in for one, when you make it. What's your plan for the side rails, find somebody with a CNC table?

The plan is to order the approx. length I need and toss in on a manual mill. Started a new job in December and my new boss has a shop at his house he said I'm welcome to use.

Re: My 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport
Huge bummer, but I'm 112% in for the build party on the replacement. I told Aub you need a Tundra next, I didn't think you'd mind.

A Tundra eh? I've heard worse suggestions.

Re: My 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport
Still waiting for insurance to decide what they want to do. In the event of it being a total loss, I've got to figure out what direction to go for the next rig.
Doing a quick search shows that Tacomas still have premium pricing and I could go with a new/more equipped full-size for around the same price. MPGs from most full-size v8s is close to what I was getting out of the Taco, but have more power (if only Toyota put the 4.7 in the Tacoma...). Most full-size trucks truck have significantly larger fuel tanks, though I can get an aftermarket tank for the Taco. I did like the size of the Tacoma especially the width.
I like the the '04-06 Tundras, the Access Cab (?) isn't quite a full-size but the double cab is close. The '11-14 FX-4 F-150s look nice. Rear locker and choice between Ecoboost or the 5.0 v8.
The v8 4th-gen 4runner could be a possibility. After experiencing the roll, I like having toolbox and such in the bed of a truck and not in the same area as it would be with an SUV.
Or, I could build up the wife-truck and get something for her...

Re: My 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport
Are they actually thinking about trying to fix that up? Color me amazed.
While you're thinking about new rigs, don't forget the Colorado ZR4. Skid plates and lockers...
