solid front axle questions Empty solid front axle questions

Ok so I started to rebuild the front axle for Fred tonight and found the knuckle ball has some bad pitting. Can I use emry cloth to smooth this out so the dust seals don't get destroyed as soon as I install them? What grease do you guys use? How much grease? What do you torque the wheel bearings to?

If they're bad enough to trash the wipers, I'd sand them down and hit any big pits with a dab of JB Weld or something.

I put the '85 FSM in my Google drive, it's got all the torque settings and stuff.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-WDEGabC63wLS1XQll0RE1kaXc/edit?usp=sharing

I've never done it, but I've seen people fill the voids with jb weld and sand it down to make them purdy again

I actually love it. I work 4 10's and have the entire weekend off. I will probably start hating it when my kid starts 1st grade though.

That's why I couldn't do it. My boys are way too active. I would miss to much.
