I think this looks like a blast. My only thing is the trip home. Unless I find some cheap tires that don't vibrate the shit out of me, I don't want to drive almost 4 hours freeway to get home Saturday night.

Assuming you come through Wendover, you're really only looking at a little over an hour of freeway speed, then you peel off at Grantsville and go home on back roads. That could still be brutal though.

If you backtracked from Gold Hill to Fish Springs and then went south, it looks like good county road all the way to Delta. Google says that's 170 miles to your door, half of that would be high speed dirt and then paved back roads. If you left Gold Hill at dusk you'd still be home before midnight.

I know Google maps is full of it when it comes to dirt road time. What would your guess be on actual drive time between Gold hill and 36? Once we hit 36 I'm really only an hour from home.

If I track back the same way I come it says 140 miles to Eureka (5 hours and 41 minutes) 153 if i go toward Delta and up Hwy 6 (4 hours) I would want to leave earlier than dusk though. I'm not a big fan of driving unfamiliar roads alone that late. If I left around 4/5 that would put me home 10ish. Most of the unfamiliar would be in the light.

120 miles from Gold Hill to Faust, all on high speed dirt with almost zero chance of getting lost. I'd call it two and a half hours, maybe three if you drive like Andrew Very Happy

We'll camp Thursday (6/4) night at the Sheeprocks, explore there Friday and camp that night (6/5) at Simpson Springs on the PET, spend Saturday driving out the PET to Gold Hill and camp there Saturday night (6/6), come home some time Sunday (6/7).

In terms of broadcasting, I'm easy. We can post invites on other forums and do an email and such, or we can keep it mellow. I lean slightly in favor of getting an invite out there, but whatever works.

Cool. I would like to get out to Gold Hill at a good time Saturday so that we can spend some time exploring before we head for home that evening.

I think we should put an invite out, but I also like how DAA put a limit on it. I don't want it to big. Maybe a 10 truck limit?

Who is planning to go from here at this point?
