Re: 2014 Club Runs
So as for April I think there are more of us heading to Moab than T4R guys so we might as well call it an official club run. Other than that and Death valley it looks like we don't have much going on!!
What do you guys think about a June over nighter in the swell?
Maybe July up AF Canyon? I seems a little cooler up that way!!!

Re: 2014 Club Runs
The Swell will be hot in June. I'm not opposed, but what about some elevation instead?
Re: 2014 Club Runs
I'm fine with that. That's kinda why I thought June. Usually early June is before the real heat hits.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
Should we try Hanging Tree Trail this year? I also want to do the swell, the maze, and HITR. I also say we plan a Mineral Basin weekend where we also hike up to Pittsburg Lake. We could also plan easy day trips in between to Forest Lake and MEG.
If everyone is up for the drive, I'd love to go back to Montana to some of the old ghost towns I've been to up there.
Oh, and the Rubicon
*Edit...and anywhere in Colorado...

To be more specific...
2 places I'd like to see again in Montana.
1. http://www.ghosttowngallery.com/htme/elkhorn.htm
2. Ennis Lake. Snake River Offroaders in Idaho (club I used to be a member of) runs it every July, I believe - it's a fun and VERY scenic trail.

I'd like to do HITR and Mineral Basin. I'll watch people run Hanging Tree, but I won't be attempting it.
Ty, Kevin, will you guys have much free time this summer/fall?

Idaho or Montana would be awesome! Also I'm always up for going to the swell anytime.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
I like the sound of all of those.
Where we are not all made of money like Andrew! I think we should shoot for 1 maybe 2 big trips a year on a club level! This year we have Moab and Death Valley. What if we plan Rubicon and HITR next year? I was thinking planning smaller stuff like AF Canyon, PET, Little Sahara, Snakes, ect! Thoughts?

I like all those ideas too. If it's got ghost towns, I'm always in. I agree with Ty that budget and time for the big trips is tight, I can only swing a couple of those a year.
Remains to be seen. I'd love to drag Nicole and the new one out as often as I can, but she's got mommy-brain and wants to keep the new baby in an isolation chamber protected from everything . I'm working on her.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
I vote for Tyson to be in charge of planning a club run in June or July. All in favor, raise your hands.

Alien hands
What about Fixit Pass/Devils Racetrack/Black Dragon for May? Is that considered the swell?

Re: 2014 Club Runs
Yeah, that's the Swell. And that's a trip I've been wanting to do for a long long time.
I'm committed to the ExPut Retro Ramble trip the first weekend of June. I'd better not try and squeeze anything in between that and the Moab trip, or I may come back to find my clothes on the lawn.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
What if we did a quick campout to Simpson Springs in May before it gets too hot?
I say for July we do a Forest Lake night run and then camp and run Mineral Basin the next day.
Maybe Murdock Basin (Echo/Mirror Lakes) in August?
September will be NPLD
Maybe the swell November/early December?
It would be awesome to get our whole group down to WOTR in January as well.

That sounds like a pretty freaking good plan for seeing different areas and it will be nice to have some overnight trips in there too.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
I like it as well!!
I say we do it!!
Any thoughts on dates? I say we pick a weekend and schedule them out so people can schedule work and other activities. Say like the 3rd weekend of every month or something like that.
Now as far as NPLD do we want to join with RME at 5 mile, go with whoever does AF canyon, or would you guys be interested in volunteering to lead a group at Little Moab??

Looks like I work August 29th. Could we do the 15th??
I'm out for Thanksgiving. I will either be in Moab or St George wheelin with my family. You guys would be more than welcome to join us.
How about Swell in January? I would say December but you all know how hard it is to get me out around Christmas!!
I can't make October 25th either.

Would anyone be up for an early morning run Friday June 6th to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of The Utah Desert Runners?

August 15th works for me.
What about October 11th for the Death Valley trip?
Thanksgiving is November 27th. I figured most folks would be free the weekend before, leaving the actual holiday for hanging with family or whatever?
The Swell will be full of snow in January. We could still cruise around down there, but I don't know what that'll do to the difficulty of the actuals trails like Devils Racetrack and Fixit Pass. And some of you ninnies seemed to be opposed to camping in the snow when we talked about it last winter.
Re: 2014 Club Runs
I'm just out for the death Valley trip all Together. Financial and and don't have enough vacation time.
Where I'm going to, probably Stm George for Thanksgiving I don't think I could pull another November trip.

Re: 2014 Club Runs
Next run is scheduled for AF Canyon. I can't make it next weekend, but I could do the 25th/26th. Any takers?
For the August trip, the 29th is Labor Day weekend - it's going to be nuts up there. Should we do a Uinta's trip the weekend before?
