Hole in the Rock. Death Valley. Ouray. Those are my suggestions for our big trip.

I like all those. What time of year we do it makes a difference where we go, we don't want to drive Death Valley in July and the Ouray trails are really only open from mid summer to first snowfall. Should we decide the when before the where?

Let's do Ouray in the mid-late summer, Death Valley wouldn't be bad in the spring.

I will probably only be able to make one of those bigger trips but I think Ouray in the third quarter would be badass for sure

I want to add Hells Backbone to the list. We camped right at the start of that road and the country we were looking at looked pretty cool.

I wonder if we could do Hell's Backbone with Burr, or start in boulder on the HBB and then go down Hole in the Rock. I've heard that last year it was way washboardy, but there are some awesome slot canyons and stuff to see. In fact, taking a different path out of Escalante to get to the HITR road takes you past Covered Wagon Natural Bridge and Cedar Wash Arch.

Just a couple other ideas for that area.

That sounds like a killer trip. I love the HITR road area! I tried to do Hells Backbone in Escalante in my road warrior BMW 540i just after we had all that rain in June and neither she or I were going to have any part of that. We made it 2.5 miles up the road and had an angry, mud-caked drive back to town.

Yeah I bet HITR will be hot during August, September. That might be a better trip for Novemberish.

I may have a rather big obstacle in the way. My company will be closing the doors on Friday, which leaves me unemployed. Hopefully I can find a new job quick enough that I won't have to list the 7mgte and Het Beest for sale.

What are you looking for? Skills? Not that I have especially good connections, but you never know what may pop up. And where do you want to commute?

Well, shit. Gas prices are killing Ty too, I hope things look up for you guys.

I do like filling my tank for $30 though.

Hoping to snag something in the engineering/manufacturing/production fields. I've spent the last 4 years in mechanical/engineering design, using 3D modeling and 2D drafting. I'd prefer not to commute any further south than Murray or further north than North Ogden.

Yeah, I like filling up for cheap too. Now I can stop being angry about the prices since they won't be hurting business anymore.
