I plotted out that other road, 12 additional miles each way. I may go scout next week

34 miles ish total on dirt after leaving the highway

It looks like that road we briefly went down before turning to go to evanston dumps right onto that same route from above. The aerial photos seem to show more pesky gates however

Looking at the travel plan for the Evanston district, that whole area is "non forest system lands included in the forest system".

No idea what on earth that means, except that I don't think the Forest Service is going to go cut that downed tree.
