Nice man! It's good to see another '97 around here. Any plans coming up soon for it?

I'm looking I to a locker swap in and swap out the front and rear axles for limited axles then lift bumpers armor and lights eventually... I know for the most part what I want to do with it the only issue at this point is the income portion lol being able to afford to do it

Looks like you have a good platform to start with there. Locker swaps are easy peasy but just money to do them. If you decide to do a LockRight or whatever LMK cause that is what I am running. DD my rig with one now and no issues. And money is the root of all evil!!!

Re: Wikkis 97 4Runner SR5
i dunno if anyone has done a retrofit with a 3rd member? if so i would definitely be open to some help if i decide to go that route... its alot cheaper than a full axle swap and if i do an axle swap i think i may end up swapping both front and rear axles... so any input would definitely be appreciated... cause i really want a locker that i can engage and disengage from up front and what not....

Re: Wikkis 97 4Runner SR5
You keep referring to a front axle swap - what are you talking about, there? There's no difference in the front end of any 3rd gen 4Runner except for axle ratio.
Re: Wikkis 97 4Runner SR5
right... just to keep the ratios in front and back the same unless i can find a rear end with the same gear ratio as what im at right now... havent had any luck with it though...

If you got 4.10s you'd be ok running the 4.30 e-locker in the rear and the 4.10 up front.

Re: Wikkis 97 4Runner SR5
just cause they are so close in ratio? cause i figured if i find someone with both then i might as well just get both.. and swap them both when i do suspension... but im still trying to figure it out and decide if im going to retrofit or if i can find a full axle for a good price

If you only ever used it on low speed dirt or snow, you'd be ok. I wouldn't ever wanna run mismatched diffs in 4wd on icy streets though, or try and do anything high speed in 4wd. I had 4.10 in front and 4.30 in back of my last truck for a little bit, and it made the steering crazy funky.

It's not a super price, but it isn't horrible either. I don't think anybody here has done an elocker retrofit, but it doesn't look that hard.
