I saw those before the price drop. I don't know how I feel about "spiffy" though. And I figure my Coopers are mostly new so I'm being kinda picky with wanting some decent tires too...

Think Discount would give you some value in trade towards a new set?

Well yesterday was a good time. I broke a rear cargo window, dented a bumper and put my sliders to good use. Also I scored free 33" new style MTR's tgat have about 25% tread. Time to find some spacers to clear them and it's go time. Also I need to fix that rear window.....

Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
So it's been a while since updating this. So to pass safety inspections I finally put glass back into the rear side window, but my bumper wings back on so I theoretically have mudflaps even though they're still probably too short, and I fixed some dents in the bumper with a mallet.
My MTR's are still sitting in mounted in my garage, but I finally am picking up some spacers this week. So hopefully before the Swell trip she'll be sitting on 33's with the rest of the rear bumper painted, gender wells trimmed, and MAYBE painted rims....I need more time for projects

You had to have the glass back in to pass safety? That seems odd. It'd be sweet to have the 33s on before the trip.

Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
Yeah long story short, there is no Utah State Code requiring it to be glass, every UHP guy in the county I talked to said there should be no problem with it passing as is, so I tried to get a waiver from the state highway inspection people and she was a (insert angry word here). So now I have real glass again.

Just picked up a set of 1.5" spacers for the front so once I get those on then I'm getting the 33 MTRs on and making it even louder on the street.
Anybody in need of some 265/75/16 in great shape with relatively low miles?

Well it's obviously been way to long since I updated this thread......but the time has come and I've finally made the decision to sell the runner. I've decided that I'm going to be on the hunt for some sort of double cab pickup.
I would love to find a fest or second gen taco but I hate the price difference to get one over an SUV. I'm also tempted to move up to a full size and do more of an expo build that I can take anywhere.
Thoughts and opinions as always are unsolicited and welcome.

Did you see Noah looking to sell his tow pig and crawler? He wants to trade back into a 3rd gen.
Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
Yeah I saw that he posted those today. I'm wanting to get into a reasonably capable double cab though so no tow pig for me

Hmmmm depending on condition I could figure $2000 for a rebuild and water pump job....

I loved rolling around in my full size, and I still do for a DD. But a lot of places get to be a tight squeeze in them.
I love my little Taco, I know I was thinking about a raptor but I'm now glad that one sold and got the demon out of my head. I think I would have been really pissed later that I sold it. I love the size of this truck, still small and capable enough for some "harder" stuff, but enough room for "expo" camping as well

Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
I had an 04 Xtra cab TRD I sold when we had our first kid that I loved and literally took everywhere. I would love to find a first gen double cab taco and through a soft topper shell on it and go from there. It's just crazy how much people are asking for them with as high miles as they have now.
I found a loaded 2013 tundra with a fiberglass shell and a CNG system already installed to run duel fuel but it was slightly out of my price range sadly

That 2013 Tundra sounds pretty cool. How large was the tank on the CNG system?

It was covered up by diamond plate but it looked to be decent size

Can you switch from normal gasoline to CNG on the fly?

I believe the guy said you could but I didn't get in or test drive it all. It was parked right on one of the elevated ramps at young Chevy on main in Layton

Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
Well the runner officially has a new home and I have found my next project. This next build will be slow as I'll now have a car payment on the new truck but the plan is to do a an expo midsize pickup.
My phone is being a POS like usual and won't let me attach a picture on here for some reason but I ended up branching out of the Toyota family so hate all you want but I dot care. I got a 2010 Nissan Frontier with low miles that is in awesome condition. Now to make a Christmas list of goodies to buy....

Re: Brad's old '97 4Runner, Now Brady's
Congrats on the new ride, i'd put a lift on your priority list. My brother in-law has a frontier 2008ish I think. I don't know if they are the same as I haven't paid attention to Nissan in a while. He has experience major spring fatigue after a few off-road adventures, not so much in the front, but the back end is sagging quite badly. Other wise he's been happy with the truck, I know he experienced some transmission problems shortly after buying it (new) but don't think he's had any other issues.
So did the 4runner stay in the family? Been some speculation on it
