Re: My '88 4runner
It needs a new battery, need to figure out why the e-locker doesn't engage, new mudflap, and couple of minor things.
My first mod will probably adding something to the fenders to cover the tires or sizing down to 35s if I can find a deal or make a trade. Though the sound of on-board air sounds nice!

I have 5 35 in Treps in pretty good condition if you can sell your 37's. Though might have a deal in the works with Kevin

Are those in the 16" flavor?
If you may have a deal with Kevin, do that. Don't hold them on my account.

Re: My '88 4runner
Josh is trying to trade for my 33s and I'm thinking about it, but I won't make up my mind until I've got the Bastard running and I can take them for a test drive. I have no idea how long that's going to be, so don't you guys wait for me. If you can make a deal, do it.
Re: My '88 4runner
They are actually in the 17in variety

Re: My '88 4runner
Got a guy on RME that'll trade me his 35s for my 37s. Should I do it? Think I'd regret downsizing?

Re: My '88 4runner
What are you doing with the truck? Do you expect to see lots of pavement, or is it a trail rig that'll get towed to the trail more often than not?
Re: My '88 4runner
I think with your rig its a matter of what you want. You have the gears and t-case to turn 37's. If it were me in that rig I would run the 37 and figure out how to cover them on the road. Actually if I had your setup I would be running my 39s. But I like big tires and I can not lie you other brothers can't deny.

It won't be seeing a lot of pavement. I'll be driving it back and forth to work (real short commute) every so often when I get it registered and I'd like to be able to take it to AF Canyon and such without towing it. Driving it that far on the freeway might be a pipe dream though. What I need to do is just drive it around the neighborhood to see how it handles the 37s on the road and make my decision after that.

Re: My '88 4runner
Required poser shot from this weekend up AF Canyon (look close and you see my little co-pilot):
Still getting used to crawling with the manual trans, stalled a few times on Saturday. I do sometimes find my self not paying as much attention to the line I'm taking as I should be, attributed to the massive upgrade in crawling ability compared to my '01. Still need to track down why the e-locker up front isn't working. And I definitely need some cargo area organization to keep things from bouncing around like crazy. I'm thinking an action packer to start and maybe a shelf system later on.

Re: My '88 4runner
Did you drive it or tow it? What'd you think?
You shouldn't stall out in low/low. I've seen guys with 2.28/4.7 duals stand on the brake and the truck will just sit there and chug without dying.

I towed it and it's not bad. Other than taking the time disconnect all the towing stuff and bolt up the driveshaft it's not a huge deal. It didn't stall out in low/low. I was in 4-hi with the crawl box in hi as well.
Andrew, when you wired the e-locker, did you include an ecu at all or just wire everything through the switch?

Everything is through the wiring harness. I bought it from Low Range.

Sounds like a 4Runner to me.
I ran out of selftapping screws, I had to drill each hole out and then find it hiding under the flare and line it up with the hole in the sheet metal to drive a regular sheet metal screw. That was a PITA, lemme tell ya.
