I ran through the wiring after I sent you that text, plugging, unplugging, stuff like that. I don't want to jinx it, but I was able to get the locker to engage and disengage several times!

I think the main problem is the power source. Just to make sure it was working, I "temporarily" connected it to a 12v wire behind the rear seats that was used for the amp I took out. It's just twisted together. It's been that way ever since. It really needs to be run back into the engine compartment and securely fastened to a reliable 12v source.

So you're saying that electrical tape isn't a secure connection?!
At some point I think I'll shorten all the wiring so there's not 5 ft of wire coiled in the passenger seat.

You should mount the switch to the dash as well... :lol!:

I got the idea in my head today that I'm going to build a custom(ish) center console. Mounting the switch will be something I try to accomplish.

Sweet! Fiberglass? If so, I wanna play. Fiberglass is fun.
I've been wanting to do a console too. We should cooperate on a mold.

Re: My '88 4runner
I was thinking a cheapo wood version to start, maybe fiberglass in the future. The biggest requirement is something that I can lock to make the truck a little more secure for my stuff when the top is off. Ours would have to be a bit different because I have to allow room for the crawl-box shifter.

Doesn't the glove box have a lock? It would be nice to have something covering those shifters...lots of heat comes through that crawl box in the summer.

Is this as simple as buying a kit like this and installing it?

Looking at the pick in this link Triple Sticks, Rad Design
it seems to me that he has the crawl box in front of the t-case. My setup is the opposite. You guys think that kit would still work?

Your crawl box IS in front of the t-case. That's why your foremost lever is High-Low, only. The rear lever has your 2Hi, 4Hi, N, 4Lo...which is the full t-case.

Nice! Looks like the tires are covered enough by the fenders that you can pass safety now?

Re: My '88 4runner
They may squeak by. What I'm planning on doing is putting the wheels from my F-150 on the 4runner for safety and those are definitely covered by the flares, bonus: they clear w/o the spacers. The wheels on my F-150 are dual drilled so they have the Toyota lug pattern and the Ford lug pattern.

That's what I was thinking. I dug through the first several pages of that build thread and couldn't find definitive proof.

Re: My '88 4runner
Thorley tri-y. Detectable difference with the butt-dyno. If you're sure there's no engine swap in your future, I recommend one highly, but only if you get a price like I did. If you have to pay new, they're probably not worth it.
