I have been up squaw peak, but just up to the dirt road. I would be interested in doing that. I have never heard of the pony express trail?

Northeast of Price. It's a very historic area, lots of Fremont and Ute rock art and archeology, a couple historic cabins, etc. No wheeling to speak of in the canyon itself though, it's all private property and the road is 2wd.

The PET is a graded dirt road that goes west from the Five Mile Pass area, following the original route of the Pony Express. You can follow it all the way across Nevada and into central California if you want. It's a cool drive, with bits of history here and there and lots of side roads to explore. I'm guessing you'd burn most of a tank of gas between Five Mile and Wendover, and then maybe another half a tank coming back on I70.
Re: Anyone planning a trip this week?
I'm game for anything really as long as it's not too far... My truck got about 16 mpg on a trip to see how close I could get to moab on a half tank.

I won't even hit I15 until the other side of Lehi. Let's meet at the Chevron on US6 just before the canyon.

I should mention, we'll have a two month old with us - lots of stopping for diaper changes and probably one or two feedings in there.
