Re: Ty's 1996 4Runner "FARM TOY"
So now that I know some of the fix its I need to do a little research!
Master Cylinder/ booster upgrade
Tires rubbing on leafs
Shocks
Gave it a good wash when we got home from Little Moab.
Then started painting the bare steel and frame.
I didn't realize how glossy the paint was until my flash hit it. It doesn't look so shinny in the regular light!!

Re: Ty's 1996 4Runner "FARM TOY"
It's amazing how much more time to work on the runner I don't have now that it's at my house!! I finally got a chance to prime the rest of my frame. Not paint only prime. And I got the lights and grill put back on!!
I got my shocks too!! Now I just need to trim the bushings so that they will fit.

Get those brakes figured out yet? This truck needs to see some snow before spring...

Not yet. I need to get a new master cylinder and see if that helps. My dad suggested having someone power bleed it but I havent made it that far yet.

Keep that expired tag out of Davis County. Brad will arrest you.

I can see it now. Brad pulling over a 4runner, sir, do you know why I pulled you over?
Uh no?
I like your rig, just thought you should know!

I've heard rumors about Davis County cops - I don't think it was your truck they were checking out.

Very true.....secretly I was hoping it was Aubrey especially since she makes Brady drive their truck anywayKevin wrote:dutchman wrote:He spotted mine one day and then brought in like 6 other guys for backup to "talk" to me.

What truck is this?! I've only got 2 options, drive the 4runner or walk.
And... This thread has been completely derailed.

Re: Ty's 1996 4Runner "FARM TOY"
So in order to take the scout camping in the Runner, I had to get it registered. I also realized that since I removed the front bumper that I had no front blinkers So I improvised! I temporally mounted a couple LED strips that I picked up from Williams Offroad Lighting.
They work great during the day, but they are way to bright at night I talked to Brandon and he is going to get some amber ones on their way for me!!
I also had my first oil change since the pan swap and seafoam treatment. After 50ish miles I couldn't believe how black the oil was.
I did think of a couple other things that I need to address.
1. no speedometer. I need to find a speedo sensor from a Tacoma. The 3rd gen uses the ABS sensors and the Tacomas did not
2. Brakes worked much better, but I still want to have them power bled and see if I can get them back to where they were before.
3. Need to finish painting the frame and rear bumper. It is driving me nuts.
4. Steering is a little stiffer than I like. I am thinking next winter adding hydro assist. My dad can get a kit from the tractor shop for about 1/2 the price of the name brands and they work just as well.
5. I am getting a little noise from the 3/4 elliptical slapping the frame. I either need to put some rubber between them or fab a mount where I can lock it down while driving on the road.
6. Getting a little more sway than I like. I think locking down the elliptical and adding Hydro assist will help that but we shall see!!!
7. Need a full sized spare
8. Decide whether or not to pull out the spare mount in the cargo bay. It was actually pretty nice to be able to double layer the gear without having to pile it. I might try to find a way to put it in and out easily.
