AJ's 1985 4Runner
I think I'm going to start a rescue service.
It got in a low speed header, which caused the damage you see to the core support, radiator, and front crossmember. It came with an extra radiator, and I can splice a new crossmember into place and stretch the core support back into shape.
Then I'm going to see about selling or trading it.

Apparently. We'll see how this goes, if it turns out well I might make a hobby of it. If I get good at it maybe it'll turn into a side job to keep me in upgrade money.
Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
All the junk pulled off the core support, and crossmember hacked out.
I need to unbolt the fenders and remove the core support, then I can work on spreading the frame and finding a replacement for the support. This is fun.

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
How much do you need to spread the frame? Was the front of the frame tweaked inward from the accident?

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
Yeah, the frame rails pinched in when the front crossmember bent, and they popped out some when I cut out the bent part but not all the way. They didn't twist much though, so I'm hoping I can cut a new crossmember to the right length, stick my hilift between the rails and shove the new crossmember in there and be good to go.

It's at the stage where I just need to clean up the frame, trim the new crossmember, and then start gluing it all back together. Do you want to come over Saturday and get dirty?

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
Made some progress today. Got the new crossmember in, welded the core support back on and straightened it out with a comealong. Need to hit the junkyard for a front bumper and mounts, and the radiator and such need to get stuffed back in, and she'll be rolling again.

The front is about half-together. I need to make that junkyard run for a couple little things, if it's not raining I'll do that tomorrow.

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
And that's that.
Got the title signed over yesterday, AJ drove it away today, with everything done but the front bumper. It's crazy hard to find a stock bumper in decent condition, so he's going to re use his tube bumper from his other truck.
Hope it treats you well, AJ!

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
All righty then....... Well need to change the title on this section or some thing. Any way got the rear bumper off monster painted (someone didn't thing tan and green would not look good together) got Fred's old nasty bumper off and installed the tube rear. I also swapped tops to the black one instead of the white.

Changed the title for you.

Re: AJ's 1985 4Runner
Well got the front bumper done. I had to cut it all apart to straighten it out and welded it on. Slowly getting there. On to the pics.
