Vote for Moab. I like the idea of Escalante/Grand Staircase to finish out the year.

Up to you, but I'd rather find a patch of dirt in the boonies.

I don't know much about the BLM spots, Kevin knows where I normally camp but it won't accommodate a large group.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
We've stayed at Lone Mesa, and drove over to check out Goose Island. Did't love or hate Lone Mesa, NO SHADE AT ALL. Goose Island was right on the river and when we were there the river was high and smelt nasty. This time of year I bet it's pretty nice.
I've always thought the ones on Kane Creek road looked pretty nice.

Those are sweet sites. If there's only three or four trucks we could totally fit in one of those spots.
There's free camping everywhere out there though if you all can tolerate the lack of a pooper. Prostitute Butte is nice, there's several sites up and down Gemini Bridges, there's spots up Bridger Jack Mesa and out Dalton Wells and Dubinky Well that are both pretty central to some good wheeling, pretty much anything that's BLM land is open to primitive camping unless it's posted otherwise. If we get desperate we could always throw down out at Area BFE, and that might not actually be a bad idea because it'd give Brassy a chance to flog his junk while we stockers stand around and watch.
But if everybody else wants a proper campground, I guess I can cough up a couple bucks.
Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
I'd prefer to not be 3 feet away from another group of campers, just my preference. I'm not going to be the picky one, I'll just be happy to be out and about. This trying to sell the house nonsense is making me lose more hair.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
I've camped down off the Kane Creek road by the river before, but it was during Easer Jeep Safari (1.5 million people down there). I'd prefer a pooper, but I can dig a hole just fine. I want to defer the camp choice to one of you who's been down there more often.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
No digging holes. That's one of the problems with primitive camping down there, all human waste has to be packed out. I have a portable toilet and wags bags in case of emergency, but I normally just make sure I do my pooping in town.

Hey now, I'll take care of the shitty puns around here.
Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Back on topic, I'm ok with camping where ever as long as I can use your porta-loo in emergencies. So you and Josh decide.

I vote somewhere with a decent crapper. I'm not okay with packing a bag of shit bouncing around inside my truck.
I would love to run hells and possibly Kane creek. If I don't run my truck I'll ride shotgun with Brassy and take pictures of him abusing his truck. Haha

I also do my best to time my poops in town, my little spot is pretty epic when you can get it. Super private with an awesome back drop, just going to depend on group size

How many rigs can your spot handle?

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
4 probably, there are several spots in the same canyon. When I first started going I could get the spot religiously. Last couple years its been discovered and had people in it. If we needed to we could split camps, if they were available. A couple of them are less than a minute walk from each other, can probably walk from first to last in 5 min. They all can handle 4-5 rigs, I believe there are 5 spots in the canyon
Brassy i'll PM you the gps on google maps, don't want to publish it

The portaloo isn't the awesomest thing in the world but it's perfectly sanitary. Each person's business goes in it's own bag with a powder that soaks up any liquids and sterilizes/deodorizes it, then each sealed transaction lives in the bottom of the loo until we find a dumpster. No need for bags of shit bouncing around trucks.
What days is everybody free to go? I can leave as early as Thursday morning.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
I get off work at 0600 on Friday morning so I probably couldn't leave layton until around 1100 or so Friday morning. So I would probably only be able to make a single late afternoon/night run on Friday.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
Let's get an official roll call of who's going and when so we can nail down a campsite. So far I believe, Kevin, Bread, TRD, and I are confirmed to go.
I'd like to leave that Thursday (9/24) early to mid afternoon. Want to leave then Kevin? Or, wait for TRD and leave in the later afternoon/evening?

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
Myself and some buddies, Tyler and Jake that some of you met last weekend will be coming down in their tacoma and 4runner, some thursday and some friday so +3 rigs from us. We would rather stay away from the large crowds and hit a primative spot.

You guys don't need to wait for me, no need for everyone to make that drive in the dark.

Re: 2015 3rd Quarter Run
Sweet!
That's way too many trucks for Josh's spot though unless we split up. I propose Prostitute Butte or Area BFE south of Moab. Going down Thursday night we should able to pick a decent spot. If Brassy and I and whoever from Milo's gang left earlier we'd have an even better chance.
