You never should have sold your 10th gen. We could have been the Utah Desert F150ers.

When does Ty get a 4WD again?

dutchman wrote:Which RTT did you get?

This one is premium Reise Outdoors Chinesium. It's a scratch and dent that Noah had kicking around and made me a good deal on. 76"x96", so in theory it should fit all four of us? We'll see about that.

It was involved in a rollover and the cover needs some repair. It looks like a terribly thin mattress inside, so I'll probably have to do something about that too unless I want to deal with sleeping pads. And I don't.

Eric, when you wired the outlet in the bed of your truck what gauge wire did you use?

This stupid swoopy fiberglass bed pisses me off in so many ways. I thought I was going to bolt up a piece of steel and glue a swingout on it and be done, but the way the bed is designed makes that impossible. I'm thinking about getting out the sawzall.

I encased the 10 ga in 1/4 nylon water line for abrasion protection as well.

Got a start.  Bought about twenty feet of 3/16ths 2x2 and a little 3/16ths plate to make brackets out of.  No idea exactly how this thing is going to look, so it's lots of tacking and looking and measuring and cutting and measuring and tacking and looking and cutting and measuring and tacking some more.

First mockup.  I've decided that I'm not going to hack the truck up yet, so it'll sit like this just outside the bodywork.  Still higher and tighter than the stock bumper.  When I'm ready I can add some wraparounds on the sides easily enough.

Looking kinda like a bumper.  It'll have a 2" receiver in the middle between the tubes, which will do for a recovery point until I figure out where/how I want to mount shackle tabs.

I'm slightly upset you didn't have a bumper welding party.

I've been working on it in my spare time over the week. I didn't have any time Saturday and only a couple hours yesterday. You're welcome to skip work and come over any morning though. Smile

Not much done today, but I tacked the brackets and receiver tube into place.  No more work until it's not cold and wet, because now I gotta roll around under truck to check the bracket alignment.

Paid off the truck a little bit ago, and apparently it's mad about it. On the trip down to Gooseberry the trans issue got worse, slipping and hard shifting. Last week it started throwing P0171/P0174 codes. Today the alternator took a dump, giving me all of 11 volts.

It's like this damned thing WANTS me to drop it off at Carmax.

Trans shop says there's nothing wrong with the big bitch, they think it's down on power.  I think they didn't look hard enough.
