Don't be a DebbieDowner, maybe one day the stars will align and a miracle will happen. That or I'll just get new tires and a shell and I'll be good to goKevin wrote:dutchman wrote:Got one as well. Can we all wear them camping together?
If we ever all go camping together again.

Re: Cool finds thread
What size tires? I have a set of 255/75r17 KM1s in good shape and a set of 265/75r16 Duratracs, one's got a slow leak that the tire place won't fix. I haven't been able to sell them so if you can use either set you can have it.

Re: Cool finds thread
I have 265/75/16 on it now but they are street terrain and getting close to the tread bars. I'm planning on staying with that size but getting more aggressive. My truck doesn't get driven a ton so I've thought about getting the Kendas from the Mexican tire shops on KSL. It's really hard to get me to say no to free or cheap tires though so how much tread do yours have?
Also does anyone have the hookup or know a SofTopper dealer for when I order mine? And I also need to get a front spacer to level the front out of anybody knows of that. I still need to check the bolt pattern and see if a Toyota spacer would line up

Re: Cool finds thread
The Duratracs have usable tread left. I'll text you a pic in the morning if I remember.
Josh was making noise a while back about getting a hard shell for his Taco, maybe his Softtopper is available?

No hookups here, but I've heard good things about this site: http://www.softopper.com

My soft topper is available, not sure it would fit your rig though. It's currently off so you could come check if you like

I might have to hit you up on that and see how well/horrible it would fit on a different model. How well did you like having it and what were the pros/cons for you personally?

Re: Cool finds thread
I just measured my bed outside the frame rails its 62 L, 60 W if thats close to yours it would probably fit.
I like it, the biggest con is it doesn't seal super tight, I never jammed the tail gate gap with anything so I'm sure i'd have the same leakage (dust wise) with a hard topper. I've been in some good rain and never had water get through. The other con was I wanted to put an awning on the rig and you can't with this.
Pro's, its super light so not loading anymore weight on suspension when bombing down roads, it collapses in about 20 sec if you need to put something taller in the bed, and you can remove it all together in about 3 min if you need to.
Overall I like it, I put it up on RME for sale haven't really pushed it because if it doesn't sell I don't care i'll keep it and continue to run it, an awning isn't that important to me. But I wasn't going to buy a new topper unless it sold. BTW I was asking $500

According to the SofTopper website I have a 58" bed and yours is a 59-60" bed. I'm wondering how much of a difference it would be and how the width and cab height would match up. I would definitely be interested in checking it out and seeing if it would be a possibility at all though. What days do you have off now, especially with the snowstorms and canyon conditions?

Re: Cool finds thread
Trust me I don't want it to go, however for the next up to 6 months I'm going to have 3 mortgage payments. Then two for at least a year on top of paying for a rental.
Also good news is sixstringsteve2.2324223 wants to keep it in house

Re: Cool finds thread
What's the overall rating of the FJ62? 280k miles, is that a lot on those? How reliable are they?

Re: Cool finds thread
They're a Toyota. The 62 means the fuel injected inline six and an automatic transmission, I'm sure they'll need attention, everything does past 200k. But with the OME and tires, that rig is ready to go. If you're not feeling the Bradrunner, a 62 would be a great place for you to end up.
