Where are we going?
Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
Well the mountains are probably a no go until August.... Shall we try the Wendover to St. George trip?

We could hit Mirror Lake if you wanted. FS just posted that the Stateline road is open to Marsh Lake with 4WD, so it'll probably be nearly smooth sailing in two weeks.
I haven't been fishing yet this year.

I didn't think mirror lake hwy was open yet. They were planning to take the equipment from the cottonwoods to open that up.... and they still aren't done clearing the guard road.
It would be interesting to go up, just don't want to be in a muddy mess

We are thinking of hitting Moab for a bit of exploration, then some skinny tire two wheeled adventure if anyone else wants in.

How many nights do you fella's want to stay? Also what kind of Mt. Bike trails? I've never biked in Moab, I found a nifty free trail map (trailforks) and trying to find some shorter rides. Looks like there are a handful of easy trails between arches and town.

Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
Trailforks is apparently the old Skid Map. Eric was using it on Goodwater, it seemed decent.
I haven't done much biking in Moab, I was thinking the Bar M trails right across the highway from the Gemini Bridges parking lot. They've got a bunch of different trails of varying tech. I took the family on the basic loop a couple years ago and it was definitely more than a gravel road but still pretty mellow so maybe we start you there and see what you're up for?
I definitely want to do more than bike though, fifteen miles on Goodwater left me pretty cooked. I think in my perfect world we'd camp at your spot off Gemini, bike in the mornings, and then scoot around in the trucks during the afternoon.
I'll be good to head out Thursday morning and need to leave Monday morning at the latest.

I'm having a change of opinion on the location, fresh back from the swell. Had to cut it a day short due to the puppy having way to much fun at camp and mine exploring, she tore up her paws and was mincing around.
That being said it was hot as hell, and the week this is planned its supposed to be warmer.

Well, looking at another updated weather. Friday and Saturday are supposed to be cooler, and if we are willing to bike early morning we probably won't die. Sunday is supposed to be 103

Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
That sucks because it's only 80 down there this week.
I'm down with getting up stupid early to bike and then spend the hot day in an air conditioned truck.

trying to sort out my +1. Heavy 40+ or so with no exercise and a wal-mart "Mountain
Bike". A great guy, but don't want to wreck his weekend by exceeding his capacity. He's self employed so if opportunity arises, he will stay and work. Otherwize, I wonder if leaving the bikes out of the equation makes sense (just for us, not anyone else,)

I'm by no means in shape, and i'm not looking to kill myself on a trail either. I still think it would be fun to get out on a loop even if its super easy.

Bring the bikes, we'll play it by ear and see what shakes out.

All kinds of green stuff on that map for the +1 to get his feet wet on. The Brand Trails are right across the highway from the Gemini Bridges trailhead and Sovereign and Klondike are just up the road.

Josh and I like to camp off Gemini Bridges right about 38.610963, -109.669025. We'll have cell service, so if we end up somewhere else we can post up GPS for you. I don't know about Josh's schedule but I'm going to try to go down Thursday and make sure we get a decent spot.
Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
Looks like a cool spot. And it's the 1st weekend in June?

No cell service at that spot, you have to go out on the main road overlooking the highway to get cell
Usually try to get the last spot if its not taken 38.612815 -109.665059 it offers a bit of shade

Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
So in my first trail ride in a long long time I went and broke the new bike in on the Little Cottonwood trail.... I learned a few things.
1. Up is hard
2. Up is hard
3. Up on rocks is harder
4. Pedal retention is a must for up
5. Down is easier
6. Down is fun
7. Down over rocks is terrifying
8. Smooth jumps are fun
9. I'm out of shape

Re: Guess What!!(&@$%(@
you need two more at the beginning:
-1. Don't crash
0. If you must crash, do not land on cactus
