July Trip
Since it appears June is going to be a Josh and Kevin trip again.
Lets start planning July so everyone has more notice and we can get a date locked up

I'm fully in favor of that. Looking at the work schedule, the only weekends I can get off are the 2-3 or 9-10
Everything else is already booked up. I'm one person, but I'd like to get out with the group. The sooner the better on knowing dates for me so I can get the days off locked up.
I'd prefer the 9-10 weekend since 2-3 will probably be crazy busy anywhere we go (unless super remote) because of the long weekend.

I can go another weekend if you got one that works. I don't mind camping two weekends in July.

Well the 9/10th got booked out on my work schedule. But i'm still willing to go somewhere Friday night, as long as everything goes smoothly tomorrow with the Taco elevation

Re: July Trip
This will be the first time taking my daughter camping so I'd like to stay somewhat local in the event she decides camping isn't for her. Kevin, when we went up the B and over to Farmington Canyon there looked to be some decent places. That area work for you?

I think it'd be much more convenient if we all just shot ourselves in the face and got it over with.
How about up the Uintahs? We could drive into one of the lakes on the North Slope, and if we drive the super speshul secret route that Josh and I found we wouldn't even hit much traffic once we left the Interstate. Wouldn't even be a longer trip for you guys.
Re: July Trip
I agree with you, I'd prefer to avoid the canyon and all the I-15 traffic headed down there. I'll talk to her about going up the Uintahs when she wakes up.
You thinking out by Kamas area?

Re: July Trip
I was thinking Marsh and Bridger lakes, up by Stateline reservoir on the WY border. You could get there through Kamas and up the Mirror Lake Highway, but it's thirty miles shorter and way less weekend traffic to take Chalk Creek Rd. from Coalville and that's assuming you come up Parleys. Probably even shorter if you came up I84.

Re: July Trip
That's probably farther that we/she'd like to go. We won't be able to set off till 17:30-18:00 on Friday and chances are we'll be bringing 2 vehicles, I think 1 or 2 of her brothers will be tagging along, plus 3 dogs and I know we'll end up packing heavy.
Is there any places near water you like that are a bit closer?

Re: July Trip
Ok, new plan. My wife's best friends, who lives in Idaho, wants to go camping and priority one is making sure that she and my wife get to see eachother. This will lead us to camp up north somewhere probably near Burley, Id. I know that might make it tough for any of you guys to join, but we'd love the company.
I'm looking at the area around Lake Cleveland. Lake Cleveland
Anyone familiar with that area?

Re: July Trip
That's a damned site farther than the Uintas you dork. And it's in Idaho, which means I'd have to get an out of state permit to drown worms. I don't like your new plan.
What about Bear Lake? That's on the UT/ID border, and not as far. Or there's lots of water in the Uintas that's closer than where I was thinking, it just won't be as secluded. Smith and Morehouse res is probably the closest, I don't know if that's open camping or if we'd have to pay for a site.

Re: July Trip
Yeah I know it's farther. It's a trying to kill two birds kind of thing. I suggested Bear Lake, but the wife's BFF lives near Boise and Bear Lake is a bit of a hike from Boise. I'm just excited that the wife is excited about going camping!

Now it seems the plan may be changing and the BFF might not make it. I'll have an update tomorrow.

Re: July Trip
I would like to try and sneak up friday night, i'm informed I may already have plans though. I'll keep an eye out. I think one day this week i'm going to go flog the supercharger and the new suspension on the PET to test it.

Find a nice stretch of PET, get two of your fellow officers to block off each end and LET'ER RIP!

Re: July Trip
Looks like BFF from Idaho won't be making it. What about Whitney Reservoir, Kevin? It's just east of Smith and Morehouse. Might be more secluded.

That is where we ended up in June, and it was just as crowded with 5th wheels, side by sides, 4 wheelers, and people blaring music while fishing as ever. It did mellow down later in the evening.
