Sunday 5/26
American Fork Canyon is open above Tibble, and I have a hankering for some Mineral Basin action. I'm going to be at OSRC Saturday, but I have Sunday and Monday free. Anybody wanna play?
Re: Sunday 5/26
I'm out of town this weekend but I really, really want to go up AF Canyon. I got robbed of my trip to Mineral Basin on NPLD - stupid service...

How difficult if a trail is it to get back to mineral basin? I'm possibly free on Monday if my runner can make it.

You're stock, right? We could probably get a stock truck up there, but I can't promise your rocker panels would look very good by the time we got back down. There's a couple spots where sliders are really nice to have, especially if it's sloppy, and it will be.
There's actually a question of it it's open for travel yet though, if it's too sloppy I'll hit one of the lower trails. A stock rig can complete Forest Lake or Mary Ellen Gulch without too much trouble.

I've wanted to run forest lake if you are thinking of that I would be in for Monday.

Is Mineral Basin open yet? Kevin, I know you've been itching to do some more exploring up MEG. Forest Lake is a decent run, maybe my wife can get hung up on a rock again!!

Re: Sunday 5/26
Ok, so Kurt talked to somebody and verified that pretty much everything up AFC is open. Whether the trails are dry enough to drive is another matter, I expect there's probably a lot of puddles and runoff still. I'm not interested in thrashing trails or coating my truck with mud, so there's a chance that we'll get up there and find that there's no wheeling anyway. I guess we can always go find a hike.
You guys sure you can't get away Sunday? I can do Monday, but it's going to be packed. One of the guys on RME went up yesterday and said there were already guys setting up camp trailers and staking out spots. Monday is going to be a mess.

I just found out I don't work Monday night/Tuesday morning, so I'm really good with either. I'm trying to talk Nicole into bringing her truck up too.

Did you guys decide on Sunday or Monday? There's a certain person I know that has the itch to get out.

Re: Sunday 5/26
I just got back from OSRC and I'm blasted, I need to spend a day out of the sun.
How about we invade Davy's house for his axle swap Monday morning (http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?97645-Memorial-Day-axle-swap), and then bail out of there for American Fork Canyon after?

I'm swapping PMs with Andrew, and we're definitely a go for Monday afternoon up AFC. We're aiming for roughly 1400.
Re: Sunday 5/26
None of you flakes were cool enough to show up, but Forest Lake was fun on Monday despite the traffic. It might be my imagination, but I think it got harder over the winter. Bigger rocks. Stock trucks would have to be very careful through that rock garden now.
Re: Sunday 5/26
I like the sound of a more challenging Forest Lake.
