Re: Official MTB Thread
I'll be a square. Just got word our buyer's appraisal is going to happen tomorrow morning, so got to stay here and help get the house and dogs ready.
I'll see you guys on Sunday.

Re: Official MTB Thread
My lungs need another week I think, Anne's kicked my ass this morning and that's stupid. I am definitely not riding tomorrow.
Re: Official MTB Thread
I didn't show yesterday because my daughter finally found time to go for a ride with me. It's her first time on a MTB, first time with shifting, and first time with hydro brakes. I opted for a nice wide, level, paved trail this time around.
I did try the new stem. I dropped from a 90mm down to 40mm and wow, it feels like a went down a frame size.

Re: Official MTB Thread
Can/does anyone want to try and ride this upcoming weekend? Will most likely be my last chance before packing/moving happens.

Re: Official MTB Thread
It's supposed to rain most of the week. Not sure anywhere will be in shape to ride.
Re: Official MTB Thread
Down for something short Saturday morning, it will have to be relatively close to me though.

Check this out Josh - remember that old road we were looking at that left the Hidden Splendor site and followed the Muddy downstream? These guys bikepacked it.

The bikepacking idea sounds awesome. All my gear is too heavy to do that though.

I've been worried about that too but if I let that stop me I'll never do it. We should just go.
Re: Official MTB Thread
Kevin, do you have the bags and such to carry stuff?

Re: Official MTB Thread
Nope. I don't have room for a frame bag in the triangle, and I don't have the neato seat post bag or handlebar bag. I made a pair of super-wonky cages to bolt to the fork that'll carry small drybags, I have a seat-post rack that I can put a drybag on or I might save the weight and just strap it to the seat, I'll probably mount another oversized cage under the downtube for an extra water bottle or something. I can lash my little tent and probably another drybag to the handlebars, and anything else will have to go in a backpack. If you want the fancy bags though you don't have spend a bunch, there's some cheap options. Roswheel, Blackburn, RockBros all make fairly inexpensive seat post and handlebar bags.
Some stuff I've been looking at:
https://www.amazon.com/Blackburn-Outpost-Seat-Pack-Dry/dp/B015NKSOW2
https://www.amazon.com/RockBros-Waterproof-Intergrated-Handlebar-Accessories/dp/B0791YD55H
https://www.backcountry.com/portland-design-works-bindle-rack?s=a
https://www.bikeshophub.com/product/salsa-anything-cage-hd-with-salsa-straps-p-4001.html
https://www.backcountry.com/blackburn-outpost-cargo-cage
I like the Bindle Rack, but I don't know if I $99 like it. I definitely like the Blackburn cargo cages better than the ones I made, I'll probably get at least one.
If you need a backpack or drybags or a smaller/lighter tent, Recreation Outfitters has some really inexpensive gear. There are some really inexpensive lightweight tents on Amazon and EBay too, I'm looking at this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LanShan-2-3F-UL-GEAR-2-Person-Outdoor-Ultralight-Camping-Tent/332653812154. It's getting pretty good reviews on the backpacking forums.

10 works for me.
What are we riding? I liked parking right at the start of the trail when Eric and I rode Nirvana/Creed.

Re: Official MTB Thread
Have you guys done the Jackrabbit and Roadrunner trails out here? Those are the only 2 I've been on. I see where Nirvana/Creed are but I've never ridden them.

Either of those loops look fine to me, I think Creed-supersonic-nirvana looks fun. Let me know where to park

Re: Official MTB Thread
Jackrabbit/Roadrunner looks a little flat. I know Nirvana/Creed will kick my ass and I need all the asskicking I can get, so that's my vote.
Re: Official MTB Thread
If you want a REAL ass-kicker...let's ride Flinstone...backwards...
EDIT...nevermind, I don't want to die
