I have always liked this kit from 4x Innovations. Plus, the video is always cool to watch

I think everybody should have a chance to roll a truck off a hill with a front end loader at least once in their life. It's on my bucket list for sure.

Tomorrow morning at 9:30 right? I will be there with the family. At least Aiden. Talan is running a fever and coughing up a storm. If he is okay in the morning him and Britt will be there with me.

So my wife is out of town, leaving me Mr. Mom. Looks like my boys will be eating french toast at Kneader's this morning. See you guys there.
Re: Old School Rock Crawl
How was the meeting guys? Sorry I didn't make it. We went out for my wife's birthday to Keys on Main. She got to having a good time and wanted to close the place down! We can all blame her for keeping me out late. :funny:

That would be me :lol!: I was trying to figure out how to add some cool one the other night. And that was the trial.

Re: Old School Rock Crawl
Those of us that weren't too lazy to get out of bed this morning met for breakfast and talked this out. I won't know for sure until I can get it out from under the pile of snow it's buried under, but here's what I think the '86 is missing right now in order to be driveable:
In addition to that, it's currently sitting on shot rear springs and an '85 rear axle assembly that's got several missing lug studs, so we should try to find an IFS housing and shafts.
I have a welded 5.29 third to stick in it. I'll have a set of good 2" rear springs to put under it. We can track down a set of balljoint spacers or fab a minor bracket lift for the front to match. I have a set of 285/75r16 tires for it, I don't know what size wheels are on it now though. We might need to scrounge some wheels.
83trailblazer on RME has offered to sell a rolling carcass that has a front differential and motor in it for $100. My understanding is that's about what the recyclers will pay for a shell, so we could snag the motor and diff and whatever else we need and break even there. Ty has a cousin with a half-stripped IFS truck that we might be able to scrounge bits off of as well.
That leaves us needing to find a set of 5.29 7.5" gears for the front ($150 with free shipping on Ebay, but I think we can do better than that) and somebody to set them up for us, and we need to be street legal in order to compete in Stock class. And this all assumes that we don't need to fab a cage - apparently it's still up in the air whether they're going to require a cage in Stock or not.
That's where we're at. Keep your eyes open for any of this stuff, and we'll work on getting all these half-assembled trucks in one place where we can work on them. I think we can do this.

- Front differential
- Engine bay harness
- Fuse/Relay box and harness

Re: Old School Rock Crawl
Heard back from 83trailblazer, he needs to clear the snow off his truck and then we can come get it about any time I guess. What's the trailer situation, Ty?
And where are we going to do this?

There's also an OSRC forum on rme4x4.com ... http://www.rme4x4.com/forumdisplay.php?80-Old-School-Rock-Crawling-event ... I believe the rules are posted in there too.

Re: Old School Rock Crawl
As for now I just need time to go get the trailer. I'm working every stinking weekend. I am going to try to get up there next weekend to collect parts for my runner. I could probably get it then.
As for where are we going to work on it. That's a great question. I talked to my dad and he said his shop will be full. He is rebuilding an old jeep willys. And my runner will fill it up. As for the big shop at the farm he needed to talk to his brothers and see if they would mind.
I've got a couple concerns that just came up. We are haveing a lot of issues at work that are requiring a ton of Saturday work. I don't want to be a downer but I'm going to have a hard enough time finding time to spend with my family, work on my Runner and and sleep, let alone work on another project. If it were me I may hold off on the project until we all have our rigs where we want them and then we can attack another club project. Call me a bitch, but I just don't know if I can commit the time and resources right now. I just have a shit ton on my plate right now.

I'm not saying I don't want to do it. I just don't know how I can make the time for it now.

Re: Old School Rock Crawl
I hear you, Ty. Nobody's gonna call you a bitch for having a life. Well, we might, but we wouldn't mean it.
Without Ty's resources I think it'll be hard to make this thing happen. I propose we table any talk of running the '86 this year and maybe focus on next year, that gives us a lot more time. If Andrew wants to enter his beast I say we throw whatever we've got behind him and help him make that happen.
There's still the question of 83trailblazers $100 truck. I hate to pass on that, we're not going to find a deal like that again. I already have too many rigs on my small property, does anybody have a place to stash a non-running rig, that it won't be an eyesore or annoyance?

Re: Old School Rock Crawl
The word is in, cage required. That probably puts paid to any idea of us building a truck for this year.
