yep that's me. I think I've seen your 4runner too. There's a couple of nice rigs on campus that I haven't seen on any forums. I'm hoping the come around here if they haven't already.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
Welcome. Sweet rig. Do you like camping trips, or more day trips? If you dig camping, you should come out to the Freeze Your Tail Off trip:

Re: GottaBe's Rig
Hi, new guy! About half of us have rigs in various stages of down-ness, but stick around and we'll be getting some runs going shortly. Check out the upcoming trips, especially Freeze Your Tail Off coming up weekend after next - supposed to be 40-50 trucks headed up northwest of the lake for an overnighter, should be a kick in the pants.
Re: GottaBe's Rig
when he says northwest of the lake, he means salt lake, not utah lake. It's going to be an awesome time.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
thanks guys!
that trip sounds like fun. I cant make this one cause I'm driving home on the 22nd and gotta make sure i don't break anything before my trip. But things like this make me wish I had my sleeping Platform finished.
I guess i cant post any links yet so I'll stick some more pics of my 4runner
here are the specs
2001 4runner Sport
It really wants a lift and armor but so far this is all i have
i have a different head unit now but this is the LED swap.
my most recent mod building this. It's not finished yet, I've got a sub coming in today to fill in that void, than of course a folding sleeping platform.

don't worry, no damage possible on the trip on the 21st. One guy is bringing his subaru. I doubt you'll even use 4wd.

Welcome to the site!! If you want a cheap easy lift, I've got some LC coils and top plate spacers for sale. Let me know if you are interested. I used them for a couple years and they worked fine. A lot of people don't like them, but they worked fine for me. It's CHEAP and it would get you by till you want to spend the money for coil overs.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
Sorry i didn't make it to the last event guys. I was leaving to NV the next day and got really busy. I really need to meet up and get some #'s lol. Last night i went to mess around at South Point in Bluffdale/Lehi with a buddy of mine. (He owns a wrx) and I'm there to pull him out if he gets stuck. Well we both ended up getting stuck pretty bad. I called a bunch of buddies but they weren't going to be able to come out till later. Luckily a bunch a guys came out in their trucks to do the same as us. It was an eventful night. We eventually were able to make a chain and get everybody out. but yeah here is my hole i fell in lol
I might be interested, Are those the little pucks you put in? i'm a little hesitant about those cause i heard they make the ride pretty rough. and would i need a diff drop too?

Yes they are the spacers you put on top of the coil. I don't think it hurt my ride all that much. But definitely more that coil overs. The thing that really hurt my ride was removing the sway bars. Then it just got scary especially coming down Spanish Fork canyon towards Price. Thats when the pucker factor kicked in. Let me know if your interested. I do have a diff drop that I won't be using as well. I'm thinking $100 for the rear coils, top plate spacers, and diff drop.
It won't be available until I do my SAS. but hell if its something you want I could help you install it. It is super simple to do.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
cool man, yeah funds are tight right now, all these snow days are killing my paycheck. It's kinda nice but then again it sucks at the same time. I was actually looking at this kit that a guy in layton sells for $600 http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=19596870&cat=&lpid=&search=4runner%20lift I might end up buying this and hopefully get a little wrench party going.
I'm not sure, i kinda want to do it right the first time, but after the other night with all that lack of ground clearance I may just do something on the budget. So do you have to remove the sway bars to install this?
yeah I've got about 20% left on these, But i'm sure some meatier tires would have helped. i really want to do 33's for my next set up, but then i have to get a lift, bigger brakes etc. Next month is my last car payment though so Hopefully the funds will start comin in.

No you don't have to remove the sway bar. I built a set of discos and they came undone. I drove it that way for weeks before I really noticed. I didn't really notice a huge difference so I just pulled it off. Then driving to Moab over thanksgiving I decided that wasn't an awesome idea.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
Hey let me know if you're interested in this lift. I am thinking of posting it up on RME and KSL if you don't want it. If you do I would even be willing to set it up for you for another $100!! 3" lift for $200 installed is hard to beat. The only thing is I would need your stock rear coils. Let me know ASAP. I need to sell some stuff. I am collecting parts for my build, but want to stay away from the bank account as long as possible.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
Shot me a text tomorrow. It really won't effect your ride a whole lot. Obviously it will some but not as much as people say. I would let you feel in mine but really all you would feel is the ring and pinion trying to grab.
Like I said shot me a text 8ol6l5395o

Re: GottaBe's Rig
super big thanks to Tyson. Man... you are awesome. Here is our... or mostly his finished work. We got it done in 6 hours or so which was freaking awesome. I'm still trying to get used to the behavior of the LC coils, but holy cow i never thought this day would come.
When i get new tires, I'll post more pics.

Re: GottaBe's Rig
thanks guys! the ride is kind hard to explain, I feels like there is a lot if tension in the back. I kept the rear sway bar connected to the stock end links which may be the issue. So basically when taking turns at slow speeds, it almost feels like the back is trying to kicking out a little bit.
This could be just from all the travel i gained from the larger springs, i'm not sure. I read that a panhard drop helps it ride more confy, too so I may do that soon too.
I'm gonna buy some longer links this week and see what kind of difference this makes. Other then that I freaking love it!
