I dunno when I'll make it down, I'm working two jobs at least until January. I'll try to make it soon though.

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
It's running!
No it's not, I'm a liar. But I did just order a set of twinsticks from Front Range. Normally $199, on sale for $189, discount code because they just joined RME4x4.com made it $169, and the $30 some guy on T4R.org just paid me for a pair of rusty bumper brackets made it $139. Woot.
I think I'm going to take Carl and Bart's advice and stick the elocker in the rear. That'll let me use Ty's axle. I'll put the Spartan in front and use the twinsticks to access 2low when I need to steer. If that turns out to suck terribly, I'll just start looking out for another elocker.

That was an interesting debate on RME about what locker to have up front and in the rear. I'm interested to see how it works for you, but I think I'll stick with what I've got.

I think you should, I think that setup is great and it'd be work for you to switch. Setting mine up Carl's way will actually be less work from where I'm at, because I won't have to mod the front housing to take the elocker.

Kevin, are you running yet? Now that we have (somewhat) matching rigs, lets wheel man! Once I fix my shit anyways...

I'm not. I shoved it back up the driveway a month ago though, so maybe that means I'm getting ready to get back to it? I need to set a goal for having it running, I've just got so much on my plate right now.

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Dang man! I'm not very good with electrical, but i'd be happy to come lend a hand. We need to get this thing wheeling! It's been more than a year, back when I used to be stock!

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Not much to lend a hand with, right this second. Mike has disappeared, so I need to buy a subscription to Alldata or something and spend a couple days in the books and figure out what wires go where.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Dammit Mike. Haha. Is he still in the Jeep? Man, well let me know when it's done! I'd love to go wheeling with you! Last time I had no idea what I was doing and I almost shit my pants at the first rock garden haha

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Been a while since I've updated this, huh? My last working theory after talking to another fellow was that differences between the OBDI '95 and OBDII '96 ought to show up in the harness, and I thought I had a '96 harness (because that's what the junkyard told me it was). So I got my hands on some wiring diagrams and went looking for those differences. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to reading a diagram, but I couldn't find a difference. On a whim I emailed Cliff at Toyonlyswaps, and he tells me the only difference between them should be a connector towards the back of the valve cover for a "vapor pressure sensor", which this harness doesn't have. So maybe it IS a '95 harness after all, and according to him I shouldn't have to repin a danged thing anyway.
This is not good news though, because Mike couldn't get spark or fuel with this harness and ECU, so either he goofed (a possibility, nobody is perfect) or this ECU really is bad like we thought it was.
I give up. I'm going to get a conversion harness built. I'm going to ship the harness and some donor connectors off to Toyonlyswaps. He'll verify the engine harness will work and build me a conversion harness. If the 3RZ still won't start after that then I'll be pretty sure I've got a bad ECU. Cliff is in Creswell, OR - I wish he was closer, because I'd love to be able to bring him the whole truck.

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
So I sourced all the plugs needed to avoid a core charge, and the harness is on it's way to Oregon. I should get it back in a little over a month, and then we'll find out if this ECU I have really is bad.

Nah, that's down the road. Next is going to be fabbing some bumpers and skids while I save up for a Rock Assault front axle and some beasty tires.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Good luck man. To bad it's still a month out.

I think there will be a 22RE on the market soon, so the ODB can get rolling on its own again.

Pfft, what's a month at this point? Probably be longer than that anyway, I've still got exhaust to finish and a couple other little things to wrap up.

TGB, thankyouverymuch.
And there's no 22RE going back on. I already hacked up the engine mounts, specifically to prevent me from considering anything of the sort.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Back at it!
This is $400. Not bad, it's nicely loomed and shrinkwrapped, the plugs are all labeled. He forgot to label the bare wires I'll need to splice, but he emailed me the connections so that won't be any trouble.
I spent a while yesterday reorganizing my tools, getting all the stuff I use most commonly out of the big box in the garage and into this rolling cart. Much better. Much less time spent running back and forth between truck and garage.
The engine bay is a mess, the wiring all torn apart and etc, so that's what I worked on today, getting the battery harnesses put back together and all the grounds reattached, putting the top of the motor back together and such. When that's done I'll put the engine harness back on and then I'll be ready to install the conversion harness and splice the wires.
Huge storm coming tonight, and I'm leaving town in a week, this might be the last I work on it until January.

How did you run the fuel lines for the Bastard? Did you have to cross over from passenger to driver side?
