I picked this up from Tacoman99 on RME. I need to get it titled and registered, then it's time for some trails!

Was the Seafoam treatment pretty easy to do?

Yup. Warm the motor up, then one third in the gas tank, one third in the crank case, and then I put the final third into a little bowl and used the brake booster vacuum hose to suck it up. Play with the throttle while you're doing that so the truck doesn't stall, then dash over to the ignition and shut it, let it cook 5-10 minutes, and Bob's your uncle. Once I get it on the road I'll give it a couple hundred miles and change the oil, and that's all there is to it.

Nice! Now you don't have to worry about a SAS!
If you want to do the RUF swap to move the front axle forward a couple of inches, let me know -- I still have my factory rear springs packs from when I did my Chevy 63" swap. They're yours if you want them.

any luck on the title yet? Does it drive at the moment, or are you still stuck swapping axles?

I won't have any info on the title for at least another two weeks. I'm expecting it to be at least another four weeks, because the bureaucracy doesn't know and doesn't care that I'm dying to get this truck on the road.
I got the junk axle under the '86 on monday. I took the day off working on it yesterday and slept instead , so this morning I'm juggling household chores, baking my wife a birthday cake, and getting the keeper axle and my spring pack under the '85. Then I've got to do the rear main seal, and probably work on the front end a little, the knuckles are looking weepy.
Tomorrow morning I'm picking up some stainless braided brake lines and a set of 5" shackles for the front, and when I do the knuckles I'll probably work on adding a couple leaves and redrilling the front packs at the same time. And at some point I need to pop the hood and get a fresh tuneup on the motor, I've got plugs and wires to go in and I probably ought to lash the valves, it ticks pretty good.
Hopefully I've got all that done and the truck registered and plated before the snow flies.

You also might want to take a look at those shift knobs. I'm not sure they're supposed to pop off like that...

Hah! No, they're not, Brandon said it came from the original owner like that. I think they're for a Chevy or other domestic, the thread size is all wrong. They work, but they'll be getting replaced when I find an OEM set.

I have another pair (used) of shackles here - basically the same as what we put on the rear of your '86. Will those work for you?

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
I think I want the 5's for the front, but if they don't work out I'll hit you up for sure.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
I finished getting the '86 axle and modded springs under. Still need to button up the brake lines and put the diff in. Also, damn, this truck sits tall in back with these springs, and I'm not ready to do anything with the front yet! I guess I didn't realize just how saggy the front springs really were. I needed to use the original springs under the '86 though, so I may take Andrew up on the offer of his old spring pack - I'll cannibalize it to help out the front, or just throw it in the rear instead of the lift springs in there now.
I said I wasn't going to take this truck away from stock until I'd picked a direction, I feel like I'm getting ahead of myself already.

They asked for a check for tax and title fees, and they've cashed it, so I'm assuming everything is a formality at this point. Whether that means they've already mailed the title or are going to screw around for another month before getting it to me is anybodies guess. I don't have any way of contacting them to find out where things are at (probably because they suck and don't want to hear people complain about how crappy they are), so I'm completely in the dark here.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
I would agree, those sound like good signs. Is the runner driveable at the moment? If you got your title, could you drive it to work tomorrow?

Yup. I still need to find time to snag that stock spring pack from Andrew, but it's driveable.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Got a fellow coming to look at my mountain bike in the morning. If that sells, that'll pay for a new clutch that I want to put in as long as I'm dropping the trans, and part of the way towards a knuckle rebuild kit.
So for the clutch - Marlin, or OEM? And the knuckles are weepy and cruddy with filth - I'm assuming the wipers are bad, but I'm probably going to hit them with a full rebuild while I'm in there. Should I spring for the Low Range/Trail Gear rebuild kit, or is some of that stuff overkill on a stock axle?

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Honestly, I'd go OEM since you're not going to be hardcore rock crawling. You're talking like $75 for OEM vs $200+ for Marlin HD. And, I believe you even get some type of limited lifetime warranty on the OEM.

Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
Is there a 22re anywhere in the world that hasn't had plug #4 crossthreaded by a previous owner?
Grr.
Grr.

Rockauto has an Aisin clutch kit for a little over $100. If you think that'll hold up, that's what I'll do.
Re: Kevin's 1985 4Runner
I gotta get those plug wires dirty or somebody is going to think I care what my engine bay looks like.
