4runner member intro
Hey guys,

Just wanted to jump in really quick and introduce myself! My name is Dustin, I live up north in West Point and picked up another 3rd gen! I have owned a 96' Tacoma, 97 4Runner, 04 4Runner, and I currently have my 97 4Runner and my wife has an 08 4Runner! We are Toyota Fans Very Happy

I picked up my current rig 4 months ago! It was bone stock, Evergreen Pearl, 3.4 L, Manual tranny... its in pretty good shape, but needed some lovin!

Current Mods/Maintenance:

4Crawler 2" Body Lift
Plasti-Dip stock wheels
Deckplate Mod
Redline 75W90 Service: Front/Rear Diff, T Case and Transmission
Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil Change(s) w/ Wix Filters
Rear Mount Turbo kit bounce (should be completed in next 2-3 weeks)

When I picked her up!

Yeah I am very excited! Just received my last package of parts today! Need a few misc things from O'Reilly's and Evco and i should be good to install...

I have quite a bit of experience with turbo's, BUT the coolest part of this kit... Engine management isnt needed for low boost applications Smile I know it sounds crazy and sketchy but the stock ECU is capable of compensating for low levels of boost from the factory because of the toyota supercharger options. There have been quite a few guys successfully do this turbo setup. Check out this build on t4r: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/99742-clownmeats-build-thread-2.html

When I had my 3rd gen I read through that build thread a few times. Had dreams of doing the rear mounted turbo.

Why do turbo's sound so cool? how much boost are you running?

My trucks don't sound nearly as relaxed going up that canyon.

Ha ha ha... the sound is the main reason I did it! I am only running a couple lbs at the moment (I think... having issues with my boost gauge). The flange on my wastegate is still upside down, so I essentially have a huge exhaust and vacuum leak. I have received the new flange, but just waiting to get time to get it installed!
