Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
Great write-up and review of most popular off-road tires. I'll be combing through these reviews to see what tire I'll run next on the Tundra.

Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
That's one of the best tire shootouts I've read. I'm having a hard time deciding what I want next:
- BFG Km2 - love 'em, I've had 'em on my past 6 rigs
- Big O AT - best snow/winter tires I've ever used. Great on the street, decent offroad, but not much of a crawler tire. I'd get the ones with the thicker sidewalls.
- Falken A/Ts - I'm VERY tempted by these
- Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs - a buddy had these and I was seriously impressed
- Toyo MT's. Stupid expensive, very heavy, but very sturdy. I wouldn't worry for a second about punctures with these tires, but I think for a lighter, smaller rig, there are better choices.

The Goodyear Duratracs look awesome as well. Only downfall is the 2-ply sidewall.

agreed. a 3-4 ply duratrac would rock. I'm not particularly hard on my tires, but 2 plies isn't enough when you're 50 miles from pavement.

Keep the recently released Toyo Open Country A/T II in mind as well. It comes with a 50,000 mile warranty (for the LT sizes) which is RARE for A/T or M/T tires.

Why?
Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
That article was the one that made me decide I wanted KM2s, even before I knew I was getting them. Good reviews in everything but mud is a-ok with me.
Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
That is a great article. I am glad I got the deal I got on the KM2s my next choice was the grabbers.

Been looking at Duratracs a bit, though I'm still probably two years from needing new tires. It looks like E rated Duratracs are 3-ply side wall, and the C are 2-ply. I wouldn't buy under 3-ply so it's nice to know the heavier tires are a bit sturdier.
Just sucks they don't have them in 33x10.50 which is what I want to run next.

I've heard nothing but good things about Duratracs. Considering them for the '99 when the KM2s on it now wear out.
Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
Noticed this post is extremely out dated. Is there a review like this of the new tires? I'm thinking on going with the pro comp extrem mt2s they have a 40,000 mile tread wear warrenty and from just a few of the reviews I've read seam to be very good tires. I'm thinking 35 12.50 17 s for Fred. I don't want to go that big on rims but seams every tire manufacturers are getting away from the 15 inch rim. Even fading out the 16 to. At 260 a tire I think I might give them a try.

ProComps are brodozer tires, they're worse than Nittos. You can get KM2s in that size for 240 each on Amazon, and probably cheaper than that if you watch for a sale. I think it's hard to beat a KM2 for a daily driver that sees hard wheeling. I love mine.
Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
Lol so your saying my 89 was a brodozer LOL it had the pro comp extreme xtcs lol haha jk I know everyone likes the km2s and I understand why. I like the looks of the mt2s and the 3 ply. Side wall and the cut and puncture protection on the side walls.

Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
Yah, that's pretty much what I'm saying . I get the distinct impression that the guy that built the '89 spent way too much time looking at FailGear and FourWheelFarts ads and not enough time deciding what he actually wanted that truck to do.
MTRs have a super good rep, I know Andrew has liked his. They're a heavy tire though, and at the size you're looking at tire weight makes a huge difference.

I'm shocked at the poor BFG KO review. I thought they were a much better tire. I am, however, not surprised at the Cooper A/T3 review. Great performance and a great price...hard to beat.

Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
BFG ATs were great for their time, but BFG rode them long and hard. I expect the AT/KO2s to be awesome.
Cooper has a new AT/W out, looks like the same basic tread pattern as the AT/3 but with a snowflake. I really want a set for the Ford.

Re: Massive 4x4 Tire Guide - Four Wheeler Magazine
That's pretty conclusive. I'd love to see somebody put the ST Maxx up against some other popular AT and MT tires.
