Leafs or coils?
So I am finally getting to the question that was on my mind when I added the tech forum.
I have been debating with myself for the last year or so about my options for springs when I do my SAS. I keep changing my mind. Here are my debates.
Coils: first off the coils do give a better ride. They do have more flex.
Leafs: Cheap, easy to set up, you don't always need the all 4 on the ground with lockers. I have springs. Most of the research I have done shows a lot of people building with coils then going to leafs, especially on the 3rd gen runner.
What is your opinions?

I don't think this will be much help, but I think coils on a SAS look awesome.

I vote coilovers front. Better ride and flex and definitely look cool. One of the sweetest rigs I've ever seen is an old Willys Jeep with coilovers in the front and leafs in the rear. The thing flexed like mad and the owner absolutely loved the setup. I think he eventually built a Four Wheeler magazine TTC rig so I know he was a legit fabricator.

Can't believe I found the pics. This is from the "Divide Ride" in Montana, July 2004. Newly married, I took my wife out to show her what she would be doing for the rest of her life...

Re: Leafs or coils?
That is BAD A$$. It looks like a long arm rather than 4 link? If I go coils that will probably be the way I go. As far as rear for now just reinforce the link system I have now. I will probably do that this winter. I noticed the other day that one of my upper links bent pretty bad, but with what we do 1/2 inch rod isn't going to hold up very well!!!!

I really like the look of that, BUT I'm not really in the market for the coilovers themselves. If I were to do it I would have to use regular coils and shock until I could afford coilovers. I've got 63" chevy leafs and I know they flex very well.
