Another Runner in need of HELP!!
I know this may seem like blasphemy, but I have had bad thoughts going through my head as of late. The thought has crossed my mind many times of selling the runner and going back to my roots and buying a couple dirt bikes or 4 wheelers. I am loosing motivation on my runner having it so far away and unusable. To me a dirt bike and 4 wheeler make more sense. I would be able to use them a lot more often and my boys would LOVE them. I have a few things to do before I could sell it, like getting Kevin his axle and fixing the speedo. Please convince me otherwise. This could be tragic.

If you sell it, you'll be punching yourself in the face within a year.
Not that I have anything against dirt bikes and ATVs, but you've put way too much effort into that truck to get rid of it before enjoying it. You need to do the same thing I need to do, just get it done and then quit messing with it. What's taking so long this time?

Getting to Brigham! Between work and the baby we don't hardly ever get up to Brigham. We were going to go this past weekend, but Tenley got 2 ear infections and we decided we would rather have her sick at home. We might be going up Friday, but we won't get up there till 9:00 and have to leave Saturday around 4:00 and my we are going to the Ogden temple open house Saturday too.

Well, it's not going to do you any good to sell it, not where it's at right now. Looking at how long it's taking the other guys on RME to sell their builds I think you'd be lucky to get $3000-$4000, and that might be a long time coming.
I agree you and your boys need something else to get out and about in, you never should have let Britt talk you into buying that minivan . I've learned that lesson the hard way too, not to rely on a build-in-progress for daily driving or even weekend fun. You need to get another pickup, or even an older four door SUV, so you and the boys can get out on a weekend.

I vote you keep it. Like Kevin said, you've got a lot invested in this thing. If you kept it IFS and hadn't gone through all the trouble I think it'd be easier to let it go.

Don't get me wrong, it would be hard as hell to let it go. I just don't know how I can justify keeping it. My boys like going wheeling, but I don't have a ton of time to take them. With 4 wheelers I can go up in the hills behind my house any evening. If anything happens it won't be any time soon.

Kevin will get mad at my saying this, but do what you need to do to get you and your boys outdoors.

No, I agree 100%. But it's been said 100 times, but if you aren't making time now, a new toy won't change things. The problem is not his 4Runner and selling it won't fix it.
I don't think, anyway. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

Fix it, and then sell it.

Convince me. What is your argument? I'm am so on the fence on this that I really could go either way. So far the most compelling argument is that I have so much time into this rig and can I get what I need out of it..

Re: Another Runner in need of HELP!!
I want my whole family to hang out with me in the outdoors. A few years ago, we went on quite a few outings in the 4Runner and had a blast. I think everyone is past that now. 6 people crammed into a 5 seater, slowing crawling over rocks for several hours? Nope. We now prefer to haul toys to a spot, camp, and then play. The Tundra does nicely doing that for us with comfortable seating for 6. Now, when it's just Kallin and I looking for a weekend adventure, the truck is a bit overkill for that and keeps us off many smaller, narrower trails. That's why I'll be looking for a smaller, older SUV'ish rig that's reliable and mildly capable.

That has kinda been my thought. I really think I will hold on to it, but it will already be in the back of my mind. Someday I will be able to afford both! I just really don't think I can get it off it what I need to. I just need to get it done and use it. Then maybe the desire will come back.
