Electric Fan Conversion Empty Electric Fan Conversion

Post by Devin Thu Oct 30, 2014 6:47 am

Anyone here have a 3rd gen that has done an Electric Fan Conversion? My last 3rd gen started to overheat just on fins and things in moab... but that ended up getting wrecked... but I now have another 3rd gen and am considering doing the fan conversion on this to help prevent it overheating. Has anyone else had that issue? Or done the conversion or found a solution for the issue by chance?

I can't speak directly to the 3rd gen, but an efan is almost always counterproductive for a street or trail vehicle. The stock viscous clutch is perfectly capable of cooling your engine if your system is in good shape, and if it isn't an efan is only a bandaid that might not work anyway. The efan is also an increased load on the engine (through the alternator), and one more thing to go wrong. I'd stay stock, and if you start overheating look for the real reason and fix it.

I haven't had an issue yet with this runner. Just the last one and we checked over it and everything was fine... just running AC, going 5 mph in the hot moab weather was just not helping at all... so im pretty sure that is why the last one started overheating. but I guess only time will tell with this one if it will overheat or not.
