Check this out
If you look carefully, there's a familiar truck in the background. Uphill of Radiator Rapid. Well done, Brady!
Re: Check this out
What you didn't see what the strap required to get up the Rapids...again...
I need a locker.

$300 and a jug of gear oil. Get it done before Moab.

I'd have to skip the CB radio to do that.

Borrow my extra one. I've got a spare handheld and a magmount.

I showed my wife this video...
Me: "Oh my, take a look at this."
Wife: "Wow, which obstacle is that?"
Me: "Eagles Nest...at the end of Constrictor...out by 5 Mile Pass."
Wife: "Huh, looks easy..."

I'll check to see if I can swing it. Installation fairly straightforward?

If you get a lunchbox locker like a Spartan, then yes. To get the bearing pre-load back to where it was, you just have to mark where the caps sit and then remember how many turns it takes to get them off. If you go full Detroit or selectable, then it requires the ring gear be removed and carrier replaced...which gets more expensive to make sure everything gets back to spec.
I don't know if you'll like the street manners of a lunchbox though...I hated having a Lockright in the back of my 1st gen pickup - the Spartan may be better though...

It'll be a lunchbox locker. After this weekend the 4runner won't be a daily driver so the on-road manners won't be too much of a concern.

Just read this! He made it look stupid easy. Did you see the video of him going up? Took him 17 seconds the first time.

Yes, sorry...should have been more specific. I showed her the 2 videos of him going up...and then going down. That's when the above conversation ensued.

I was hoping he'd mash the throttle on the way down and jump it!

Any major differences between the Lock-Right and the Spartan? Well, besides one being $100 more than the other..

DO NOT get a lock-rite. Go Spartan. They have horrible road manners, I broke one just running 31's, and I believe they are made in China now...even worse quality than before.

That would explain the price difference. Thanks for the advice. Do you guys know if the AllJeep.com guys give discounts to RME members?
Edit: Who are the AllJeep guys on RME? I can't remember their names.

The Spartan is supposed to have a bigger crosspin, too.
The AllJeep guys are Davy (mesha) and Ryan (Skippy). Awesome doods.

Yup. I like it. I don't mind it on the road at all, it really only shows up when I'm turning really tight in a parking lot or garage, or when I abruptly change throttle on a freeway curve. Other than that it rarely acts up.
Some day when I've upgraded everything else I'm going to, I'll swap it out for a selectable in the rear. But I'm in no hurry.
