So apparently they didn't want as huge a group as they had last year, they closed signups at thirty trucks.  Sorry guys, I wish I'd posted this up sooner.

So...what do most people use for shelter at night in the dead of winter? I know my 8 year old tent aint gonna cut it...

If there's that much snow we won't make it out there in the first place.

I don't have a four season tent or a good sleeping bag either.  If I get the trailer ready in time, I'll find/borrow a propane heater to keep the chill off.  If it's not ready, I'll bring my tiny little ground blister and plan on suffering.  Either way, I intend to wrap my sleeping pad in a wool blanket, stuff my mummy bag inside a full size bag, and cram my underwear full of those toe warmer things Shocked

If the trailer comes, I'll have room for you and your boy if you can tolerate my snoring?  More bodies will keep it warmer.

I have 2 - 0 degree mummy bags.  Mine is a North Face, synthetic that should do the job.  Kallin's is a Coleman synthetic that cost me like $40 bucks so I'm concerned about that one.  I have 2 - rectangle bags that I will bring as well and will slide the mummy's inside those - I figure that should be enough.  As for shelter, I'm considering picking up this lightly used gem (brand new they sell for $500)...

Kodiak Canvas Tent

Our current 4 man Coleman works great but isn't big enough for the whole family so we've been looking to get another one, anyway.

As this gets closer, we can make final preparations.

Tyson, are you committed to this yet???

Back in the 70's my dad and his hunting crew made a Colorado trip in the dead of winter.  These California boys were NOT prepared.  Someone told him to keep his feet warm that he should sprinkle cayenne pepper in his socks Shocked

Yeah...you know how this story is going to end...:lol!:

He was practically walking in the snow barefoot for the rest of the trip.

Somebody is not nice!

That's a good price on that Kodiak.  I've heard those are as good as Springbars.
