Re: Cool finds thread
I drive an 2015 expedition 40 hours a week. For the most part I really like it. Pretty quiet even with duratracs on it, good power, good towing (if your towing within limits of rig). Really comfortable. I've had a hand full of issues but all have been taken care of via warranty or are due to all the aftermarket junk spliced in. If I needed a full size people mover I'd look hard at them. The IRS sucks ass off road, but pretty comfy on road. My mileage sucks, but I have duratracs 3.73's and drive it like its stolen so.

I've found a few websites that have done reviews on full-sized SUV's and the 2015+ Expedition consistently ranked #1 or #2. Unfortunately, the Sequoia was usually dead last. We are getting ready to hit Moab this week to RZR ride with my wife's family. My father-in-law just sent me this...LOL

Re: Cool finds thread
It will probably pull it fine, while I don't know the weight of our trailer I know its very heavy and very tongue heavy. It pulls the load fine, just has no suspension with it being so tongue heavy which also makes it squirrely since I'm pretty sure the front tires are on the verge of not being on the ground.

Who was making noises about wanting one of these? The fuel tank already underneath it intrigues me.

This guy hasn't heard of the Tacoma Tax I guess. Great deal for anyone that doesn't need four doors.

He's an old model, I don't think they make new parts for him anymore. Might have to try a junkyard.

There are other parts I'd prefer to upgrade first

Must be the 3rz. The 2-door thing is a sticking point for me.

"... fantastically rugged and basic."
"...expected to cost $60,000."
One of these things is not like the other. We're all going to be in electrics sooner or later, but I'll convert a old Jeep or Toyota before I drop $60,000 on a "basic" truck with only a 200 mile range.

I'm with you. It is neat to see someone taking the EV off-road, the instant torque from the electric motors would be awesome. In theory you could to complete independent suspension with a motor at each wheel.

I daydream about it. With a motor in each wheel, you'd have the ultimate 4WD system. Set your steering knuckle high and the steering arms long and you'd have fully independent portal axles with amazing articulation. Each wheel could be in forward, reverse, or braking independently of the others - who needs lockers and cutting brakes? The capability would be amazing.
